A LOT of people say, “laughter is the best medicine.” And OMG, they are right. Kids know this – body sounds, body odors, funny faces, physical goofs, like falling down, whether on our keister or just tripping over something. Kids know how to laugh at all of it. And you know what?
As we get older, we use our grown-up voices (and faces), and we stop laughing at a LOT funny sh*t. That’s why when we do happen to stumble upon them, it’s really funny.
Recently, I used a word that sounded like another. It made my friend (and the best hair stylist I know) laugh. A LOT. She said, “Every time you say that word, I think of …”
And, I started laughing, too. Then it became a thing. I now discover words that sound like other words … ALL. THE. TIME.
I’m laughing as I type this because this discovery led to a new series on Goodwill Stories’ Facebook page, called “This word sounds like another…” It’s sophomoric. Childish. Maybe ridiculously petty. And it’s funny. OK, maybe just to me and my closest circle, but whatever.
It’s completely appropriate that we launch this new series on a Friday. Zero F**ks given on whether it’s appropriate. It’s STILL funny.
And, if you have a word that makes you laugh because it sounds like another, please “comment” – also remember to “like” and “share” – we could ALL use a laugh, right now.
